Initial Definition of Instructional Technology
My current definition of instructional technology is utilizing technology in the classroom. This technology includes students using specific computer programs to help design presentations or using the internet to research topics. Instructional technology also involves teachers. Teachers may use programs or the internet to help their students learn a new concept. In our school we use our laptop cart. As teachers, we are able to use these laptops in our classrooms. Our students use these laptops to research topics, type reports, and prepare powerpoint presentations. Our teachers also search for different websites to use in the classroom. We have found several cool websites that help our students write poetry, practice their math skills, and maintain learning through interactive games. Instructional technology is an essential part of learning. Technology is a way of life. Students and teachers must be proficient in using technology in order to compete in the world.

I like that you say--current--as in all parts of technology, wait one day and it has been improved! Including people as a form of technology or at least part of the process was very astute.
I agree that technology is a way of life. If we expect our students to be able to compete in our global society, we must teach them the skills to do so.
Learning is for a life-time! New technical tools are being created while we sleep. Today's up-to-date technology is tomorrow's history. It is so important that educators embrace the opportunity to learn these new tools and techniques.
Current is an interesting and important concept that you mention. I'm wondering if part of IT is also teaching our students how to adapt to the constant changes in technology.
Nice that include how technology relates to the student and how it relates to the teacher.
I like your example of using a laptop in the classroom with a cart to enable research. I am curious about one thing though: do all the students share the one laptop and if so, how well does this work out for everybody? I almost accepted a job doing exactly this and wondering how effective I would actually be teaching computers to 20 students and one computer.
